The real Abi, revealed

8th February 2010 07:59:38

Regular visitors to this site will know that we’ve been running a poll about Abi Titmuss. I interviewed her recently about her new theatre role in Stage Fright and the north Londoner insisted she’s put her glamour modelling days to one side, focusing instead on her acting. She sounded passionate, but I had to admit I was still a little unsure. Venturing to the Canal Cafe Theatre on Wednesday for the press showing of said play, my doubts were swept away.

Playing a role pretty close to the bone – a celebrity hungry woman who will do anything to raise her profile – she was excellent. OK, the fact she ended the play in a very skimpy outfit didn’t do much to cast aside thoughts of Abi Titmuss the model, but it’s clear she has a talent. The play too has got legs, but whatever Abi and co-star Alex Barclay did, they couldn’t upstage Sion Tudor Owen. Reminding me of Brian Blessed, but smaller, he stole every scene – I would say that he was in, but that was every single one in this three-hander. Go see and enjoy.
