Last night I attended the launch party of Nat Finkelstein’s From One Extreme to the Other at Shoreditch’s Idea Generation Gallery. It primarily focused on the late photographer’s fantastic shots of Andy Warhol during the Factory days, but I found myself wrapped up in the other side to the exhibition.

His work with the Blank Panthers was controversial, but I was amazed at how similar life was then to today. The photos I saw featured protests against the Vietnam war and civil rights rallies, with Finkelstein really getting to the heart of the matter. Ring any bells today? It certainly did to me and suggests things haven’t moved on, despite what people may think. Make sure you check out the exhibition – see more at www.ideageneration.co.uk
